A person (not my customer) came in to the store with a Transfer Bench and told me that the place she bought it from will not take it back because it is a bath safety item and for sanitary reasons, all bath room items are non-refundable.  I understand that logic, but my first question to her was “What is wrong with it? It looks fine.”  (I assumed the retailer didn’t ask the correct questions up front.)

The person told me that she bought the wrong Transfer Bench and needed the right-hand bench because her shower head is set up on the opposite wall. Of course my answer was… “You should have come here first!”

Seriously…I explained to her that all Transfer Benches are set up to be interchangeable; all you need to do is remove the back and place it on the opposite side, which I did for her. She was so grateful that she didn’t need to buy a new Transfer Bench, I thought she wanted to have my baby!

Well we didn’t need to go that far, but the moral of the story is home health products can seem simple yet they usually require critical details to ensure the patient is matched the correct product. Fully understanding how to setup and use these products is unfortunately not what the typical volume-driven online or retail store care about. We got the sale – let the patient or the patient’s caregivers sort it out!

When sorting out what health products to buy, always think about Diagnosis, Area of Use, Weight and Height of patient who will use the product. Other details often matter too but these are usually fundamental to matching the right health product to the patient.

At Routeonehealth we always setup product and if we can’t, we will have full over the phone support.
